Preparatory Period

PREPARATORY STAGE 0

Foundation Before Diksha

"Entry into the Himalayan Siddhashram Guru Parampara begins with preparation. Diksha is sacred transmission. It is not conferred casually."

"Before initiation, the aspirant enters a structured preparatory phase designed to stabilise body, mind, and intention. This period establishes discipline, evaluates readiness, and aligns the seeker with the seriousness of Sādhana."

The Base

Purpose of the Preparatory Stage

Advanced Sādhana requires a stable instrument. This stage refines that instrument. Preparation is not optional. It is foundational.

  • Establish daily rhythm of practice
  • Strengthen mental steadiness
  • Regulate lifestyle patterns
  • Cultivate humility and receptivity
  • Assess commitment to continuity

Duration

"The preparatory phase typically extends for a minimum of 8–12 weeks."

In some cases, it may continue longer based on individual readiness. Progression is determined by steadiness — not by time alone.

Daily Discipline Requirements

"Consistency is more important than duration."

Fixed Daily Sitting

A designated, uninterrupted time each day for practice.

Consistency First

Foundational Japa

A prescribed universal mantra practiced with attention to pronunciation, count, and focus.

Non-Initiatory

Breath Regulation

Simple structured pranayama to stabilise prāṇa and attention.

Stability

Silent Sitting

A brief period of quiet awareness following mantra repetition.

Awareness

Practice Journal

Daily written record of duration, mental state, observations, and difficulties. This journal may be reviewed during evaluation.

✦ Mental State ✦ Observations ✦ Difficulties ✦ Duration

Lifestyle Alignment

Sādhana extends beyond sitting practice. The aim is not austerity for display; it is stability for transmission.

  • 01 Maintain regulated sleep schedule
  • 02 Reduce excessive sensory stimulation
  • 03 Moderate or eliminate intoxicants
  • 04 Adopt sattvic dietary discipline where feasible
  • 05 Practice restraint in speech

Conduct Expectations

Containment preserves clarity. During this period, the following are expected:

  • No experimentation with additional mantras or rituals
  • No mixing of multiple spiritual systems
  • No public declaration of initiation status
  • No pursuit of occult or power-oriented practices

Psychological and Physical Readiness

Sādhana engages subtle dimensions of consciousness. Stability is valued over intensity.

Medical Care

Seek appropriate medical care when necessary and avoid abandoning professional treatment for spiritual experimentation.

Communication

Aspirants must inform the Guru of significant psychological or neurological conditions.

Evaluation for Diksha

"Advancement is not automatic. Diksha is conferred when readiness is evident."

Consistency of daily practice
Emotional steadiness
Observance of lifestyle discipline
Clarity of intention
Responsiveness to guidance

Spirit of Stage 0

This stage cultivates patience, humility, discipline, and alignment. The aspirant learns that Sādhana is not about experience-seeking. It is about refinement.

"Only a disciplined foundation can sustain deeper transmission."

Preparation is the first initiation.

When steadiness is established, the path unfolds naturally.
